Since 2009, GHA have been involved in the re-invention of Margate’s famous Dreamland Amusement Park, to realise the vision to restore the park back to its former glory; creating the World’s first Heritage Theme Park, preserving what is an important part of our British cultural heritage.
Having successfully completed the urgent works at Margate’s Dreamland site in 2011, the next phases of work involved the restoration of the lower ground floor amusement park, and a complete re-landscaping of the external park, including the restoration of the Grade II* listed Scenic Railway. GHA played a key role in the project, working alongside Hemingway Design to recreate fond memories of the historically significant site.
Dreamland re-opened its doors to the public in June 2015, with the hugely successful opening Hullabaloo Party, which the entire GHA team attended. The popularity of the park has continued to grow, with special events taking place throughout the seasons, including a week long special for Halloween, dubbed “Screamland”.
The fully restored Scenic Railway and the reopening of the amusement park have been pivotal to the success of the Dreamland complex as a whole, which will continue to evolve as future phases, including restoration works to the 1930s cinema building, go underway.
